In this Safari, we explore the wild northern frontier of Samburu National Reserve. In Samburu we get to photograph unique Mammal species only found north of the equator. The varied and rugged landscape of the region also gives us the perfect backdrop in this wildlife rich region. You will have the option of Flying in to Samburu and flying directly from Samburu to Maasai Mara where we will spend another 5 complete days photographing wildlife. This safari offers you the opportunity of photographing a large array of wildlife and bird species.

Day 01: Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya

Arrival at JKIA Airport Nairobi. You will be met and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay by our representative. Once at the Hotel, you will be met by our Photography Director for a safari briefing.
You will be assisted to check in at the hotel by our representative for your overnight stay.
Overnight will be at the Sarova Panafrica Hotel in Nairobi , Nairobi. Breakfast Included.

ABOUT THE SAROVA PANAFRIC HOTEL: The Sarova Panafric is Idyllically located 5 minutes’ drive from the CBD and 18 km from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, amidst beautifully landscaped gardens in a quiet suburb of Nairobi, Sarova Panafric offers 162 rooms in a range of Superior, Executive, Club, Studio and Themed Suites – all recently refurbished and decorated in a contemporary vibrant African style. Once the watering hole for freedom fighters, spies and foreign correspondents, Flame Tree restaurant is named after the Flame Tree that holds pride of place in the gardens and offers leisurely meals.

Day 02: Depart Nairobi fly to Samburu National Reserve.

You will be met by a Features Africa Photography director for breakfast and a pre safari brief. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Wilson airport for your flight to Samburu National reserve. On arrival at Samburu, you will meet our ground team and be transferred to your hotel with a game drive en route. After lunch, you will have the first game drive starting at 1600Hrs. Return to the lodge at approximately 1830Hrs for your overnight and dinner.

ABOUT THE CAMP: Larsens Camp is located in Kenya’s famous Samburu National Reserve
is named after Erik Ole Larsen, a legendary Dane credited with defining
the luxury safari under canvas. The camp is bordered by the Uaso Nyiro River on one side; there is nothing to see but pristine nature on the other three.
With just 20 tented accommodations, our all-inclusive adventures offer distinct luxury African safari experiences.

Day 03 & 04: On Safari at Samburu

We will have a wakeup call at 0530 Hrs. after which we assemble for early morning coffee. We venture out of our camp in search of the big cats of Samburu and other wild species in this area. We return to our lodge for full breakfast at 0900Hrs.
At 1600Hrs we start our evening game drive again returning back to our lodge early evening at approximately 1845Hrs.
Samburu National Reserve is one of the lesser-known national parks, but is nevertheless teeming with life. Situated alongside the Ewaso Nyiro River, there is plenty to attract wildlife from the surrounding savannah plains. The reserve is rich in wildlife with an abundance of rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special Five).
We will be spending the night at the Samburu Larsens Camp.

Day 05: Depart Samburu Fly to Maasai Mara

On this day we will not have a scheduled early morning safari. We will pack our bags and assemble for breakfast at 0800Hrs. We will have our vehicles ready to transfer us to the local Oryx airstrip where we will catch our morning flight to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival at Maasai Mara, we will be received by the Features Africa ground team at Mara who will transfer us to our Hotel at Maasai Mara for lunch and an afternoon rest. We will start our evening game drive at 1600Hrs returning to the camp in time for dinner and overnight. We will be spending at the Mara Crossings Camp.

ABOUT THE CAMP: An Eco-friendly luxury tented camp; Mara Crossings Camp is uniquely located on the banks of the World famous Mara River. Vibrant and rejuvenating, Mara Crossings Camp lies among indigenous shrubs right at the mighty rivers edge. A wild, yet intimate experience in the thick of the resident game this is the perfect vantage point for one of the most famous fording points of the wildebeest migration. Well used animal trails meander between 8 spacious, ensuite safari tents while quiet outlooks on the river’s edge allow guests, cocktail in hand to dream the afternoon away! The camp is ideally located in the Musiara region famous for its plains of teeming wildebeest and no less carnivorous predators. The most unique aspect of this quaint camp is its close proximity to the various migratory CROSSING points thereby offering sightings of the annual movement of wildebeest and other herbivores across the Serengeti – Mara Ecosystem – one of the greatest spectacles in the natural world!

Day 06, 07, 08 and 09: On Safari at Maasai Mara National Reserve

We will spend these complete days at the Maasai Mara national reserve. Our typical day involves around an early morning departure returning for Lunch and venturing out again in the evening for another game drive. This daily programs may however be altered depending on the wildlife sighting, migration patterns and the prevailing weather conditions. This will be always dependent on the safari director in conjunction with the safari guides.
0500 Hrs. Wake-up call at the camp. Freshen up as we assemble at the lounge for an early morning coffee/Tea with biscuits. We depart the camp at 0600Hrs with our picnic breakfast.
Early morning game drive in search of wildlife and we stop for our bush picnic breakfast at approximately 1000Hrs. After breakfast, we continue with our game drive arriving at our camp starting 1130 Hrs.
We rest and have lunch with the early afternoon free at the camp. We will have Tea/Coffee at 1500Hrs as we prepare to depart at 1545 Hrs. for our evening game drive. We return to our camp at 1900 Hrs. for our dinner and night at the Camp. All meals and overnights at the Mara Crossings Camp.

Day10: depart Maasai Mara Fly to Nairobi

On our last day at the Maasai Mara, we will have an early morning out photographing Wildlife. We depart from our camp at 0630. We return to our camp at 0900 Hrs. for breakfast and refreshing before our transfer to the airstrip for our flight back to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be transferred to the Hotel Karen Blixen Tamambo for our final lunch after which you will be transferred to JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport) for your departing flight.
